Battle of Britain Tribute

Denis Pannett (F 53), generously donated two of his iconic paintings to the School archive collection which are displayed in the entrance to the School Library, hanging opposite the WW2 Memorial, in tribute to those Uppinghamians who flew in the Battle of Britain, listed below:

The Sinking of HMS Glorious

Following the publication of Charles Harley Savory's (M 1906) letter to the Headmaster, Revd Reginald Owen, recounting an unexpected reunion on board HMS Glorious. We were interested to discover more on the history of one of Britain's largest and fastest aircraft carriers.

An article discovered in History Today, written by naval historian Philip Weir, reports on the controversial sinking of the ship on 8th June, 1940, when the Royal Navy suffered one of its most devastating defeats of the Second World War.
