We are very sorry to share the news that Mary Lloyd passed away on 14th January. This was sudden and unexpected; our thoughts are with Peter and the family at this difficult time.
Peter was on the staff from 1953 to 1988. Peter and Mary ran Highfield very successfully between 1962 and 1977.
On retirement Mary set up the very successful shop called “Minerva”, now the site of the Indian restaurant. Having been brought up in India she sourced goods from local Indian artisans, cutting out middlemen, enabling them to receive good living wages in return for their hard work.
Amongst her many attributes, she was very involved in many aspects of local charity work and a former High Sheriff of Rutland.
Mary's funeral will take place on Tuesday 30th January at 2.00pm in the Parish Church at Uppingham. Following the service refreshments will be served in the Falcon Hotel.
If you would like to attend, please be aware that parking in the town is limited and regulations are strictly enforced. To view a map of available parking please click here. Please also note that no parking is allowed in the School Quadrangles.
