After Uppingham, Alex took a year out, and spent two months volunteering in Pokhara, Nepal. During his time there, he visited a charity that supports victims of human trafficking. In Nepal, 54 people a day are trafficked across into India. There they are forced into work including manual labour and prostitution.
Child Rescue Nepal aims to rescue and support children who have been forced into slavery. So far they have been successful in rescuing 700 children, however, their work is far from done. By running the London Marathon, Alex aims to raise awareness for the fantastic work the charity does and much needed funds to help the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking.
