Dr Malcolm Tozer (former teacher and Housemaster of the Lodge) published his latest book, Edward Thring’s Theory, Practice and Legacy: Physical Education in Britain since 1800 earlier this year. The book focuses on Edward Thring’s alternative approach to physical education during his headmastership of Uppingham School (1853-1887) and how his legacy played a part in shaping the first National Curriculum for Physical Education. The book is well researched with much of the material sourced from the School’s own archives.
The 50% discount currently offered by the publisher is only available until 15th December 2019, if you are interested in taking advantage of this fantastic offer please order using the link above and entering offer code MOANOV19 during checkout.
“This very readable, elegantly produced and delightfully illustrated monograph fully meets its author’s goal of furthering our understanding of Thring, his practice and his legacy.”
